Electronic Music is a failed adventure

And before the long discussions even get brewing in the comments section, I did a field recording in the music department at KU with a decent mic and my camcorder.  This was taken near an news article posted on a bulletin board with a title of "Electronic Music is a failed adventure."  Of course the article wasn't as cool as the title and dealt with band geeks complaining about not getting to play enough at the basketballs games and instead of the krunk CD's banging.  But there is a horn of some sort and some percussions in the 2 minutes.  The video got jacked up when I ran it into my computer, but it looked better than the actual shot.  (here is the wav file)

Kronos Quartet Concert Review- Lied Center 4/13/10

Last night I saw the Kronos Quartet perform a wonderful concert full of contemporary string music.  Terry Riley was heavily represented, and they also played interesting pieces with ethnic heavy overtones (which I love).  Some pieces were perfect combination of ethic Read more »

sqrt(labs)

I got two jars next to my lab, one has a homemade fuzz pedal that I call the "Moonshine Fuzz." Damn I miss corn liquor. The other is labeled "blonde" and the insides are as killer as the man with no name.

yea i'm interested in the jar next to it...

what's in there? Just happened to have had this on the desktop right here and now. not really my lab per se, but i did rock here for a solid 3 weeks or so. by the way, if you are having a creative block, moving some of your stuff to another spot is highly recommended to get that groove back. but yea, wanna see some mason jars or som'n with some odd, crystallized contents, labeled things like papaya poof.

tinnitus up in da lab

so i've been making some really uptempo beats, mostly inspired by dirty souf booty instrumentals (hurricane chris, ludacris, etc.). this requires the volume to be ear-shatteringly loud, which is why i feel like my ears might start bleeding any minute now. i'm sitting there looping some 808 kicks with the amp way high and i smell this strange smell. it smells like medicine or transmission fluid or something. and i look down at my amp, and the heatsink is creating smoke. i think it burnt dust or plastic. n-e-wayz, it inspired me to take a picture of "da lab." yawl should post pitchers of your labs, too. i already know what gray's looks like, but gray, if you're reading this, you should post a pitcher of your boomboom room, and make sure to include the volcano (and possibly one of those huge jars you keep next to it).
