Tables

Any of y'all know some decent turntables to buy these days? I'm not going to pay a grand or so for a 1200, so I'm looking for something that's still produced and you can find parts for if something breaks. Some of the Audio Technicas look decent. There's the super OEM one and the 1200 knock-off. The 1240 supposedly has a better motor. Not trying to do any Qbert type shit or anything like that. Mostly just playing records, sampling, ripping vinyl. Maybe add another one and try and fuck with mixing at some point. I know the internal preamps on them are probably going to be balls. Help?

  2. Maybe go for some Numarks, Stanton, or even some Geminis. You get what you pay for with Technics, though. If you're sampling, cartridges will be more important than which turntables you get.

  3. Looks like the nicer Stantons use the same super EOM chasis as the Audio Technicas, but are more expensive. What's the difference? I read something that sounds like the tone arm on the Stanton is better, like it skips less.

  4. I have no idea about chasis or whatever, and I've never even heard of Audio Technicas turntables. Sound kind of sketchy. The Stanton ones use the straight tonearm/less skipping as a selling point, but I'm not exactly sure how accurate or inaccurate that is. If you're wanting something to use consistently over the years, then you're definitely gonna want Technics at some point. Yes, they're pricy, but they're worth it in the long run. If you're just wanting something for cheap, just go with Vestax or Stanton or whatever.

  5. Plus, I think they've stopped making 1200s, so if anything, you can buy a pair and then sell them to your grandkids for hella stacks.
