Jack Kirby was the definitive superhero artist of the 40's through the mid 80's AT LEAST at mostly Marvel, and to an only slightly lesser extent, DC. He created like half the major Infinity Gauntlet characters, especially the Silver Surfer (the other half were created by Jim Starlin, who pioneered making superhero comics be about being on acid). If you EVER read a mass-market superhero comic, you owe it to yourself to google these cats. Mostly, from the mid 60's until his death, Kirby is notable for working so fast and stream-of-consciousness that everything he did was basically TECHNO FOLK ART.
that is one of the tightest drawings i've ever seen.
ReplyDeletehave you read "the infinity gauntlet"?
a lot of the art looks sorta like that.
hell yeah. i had all of those and the drawings of the massive battles with 40 people shooting crazy energy out of their bodies are pretty killer.
ReplyDeleteIs this the same guy that did the Silver Surfer comics? That blue-headed guy looks a lot like Galactus to me.
