Digital Nimbus
Here is a 2 hour radio show that plays fun electronic stuff out in UCal at Irvine. They put streaming and download links to their shows. The pic above is this staged venue we set up in some of my friends warehouse loft living space. We had our first show on Saturday, and the cops didn't come.

What was the show? Did you play?
ReplyDeleteAlright, here is the deal, and the thing that has been taking up most of my time and mental energy (other than these dope electronic drums I have been making, but I will post that when I get it right). So the "Lawrence KS 219 Crowd" (only way to describe them to you all) that I hang out with, make some music with, and do lots of recording with, live hard with, and in general drink a lot of Hams Beer (shit is cheaper than PBR here). They are really fun kids, and they got this loft apartment space on the east side of town (see Broadway in A-town) with a huge 3 car garage basement on it. They work at a theater (I used to work there, the same place some of the crazy recording sessions have went down) and know lots of people with lots of things. That garage was barren 2 weeks ago. They got a stage (5 of 4'x8' platforms), 6 EV cabs, 2 horns, a crossover or two, 5!!!Poweramps, a 24 channel EV board (which geeked out during the show), and 2 EV monitor wedges. They got mini ellipsoidals for lighting as well, and a cheap little light control board.
ReplyDeleteHooked it up on Friday Night, they had 5 bands play in their house on Saturday Night. They were mostly weak "indy" rock that was trying to be crazy like Zappa but didn't have the skills set to pull it off right (like a non mentally ill Wesley Willis, but these kids mothers didn’t smoke crack rock). It was very strange, and not in any good way. Example, one band used this other touring band’s drum set. They proceeded to go all “tha Who” on it, and busted all kinds of shit, and it wasn’t theirs. They threw a guitar case at a bass cab that wasn’t theirs too. I heard way more out of tune guitars and vocalists than I can even imagine. If anyone saw a show at Nightlight in Chapel Hill that wasn’t not all electronic acts that I knew, then you have seen the same shows before. The first show was supposed to be the 31st, but the kids I roll with got drunk and said “yeah, fuck it, come play at our place” with about 4 days of notice.
No, I didn’t play, and I am glad I didn’t. People were throwing beer, and that shit got on my hot new sea foam green O8, I would have popped. There were about 100ish people though, and it turned out to be one giant house party. We did some sound proofing with mattresses, drywall, and foam to keep sound from going outside. And no cops, not sure how long that will last though.
